RECAPT.com was born out of the continued necessity to reach out in our role as child advocates in order to make more parents aware of our growing resources in the areas of special education, clinical therapies in speech-language, learning disabilities, psychology, and childhood disorders including ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Depression, Adjustment Disorders, and Anxiety Disorders. We are especially thrilled to offer parent training in support of special needs and difficult to manage children. Dr. Joseph Plasner, Ph.D. is a licensed and school psychologist who has had over 30 years of experience working with children and families within a school system and clinic, and as a private practitioner. He is in the process of completing his first book to assist parents in developing cooperation, respect, trust, independence, self-esteem, and the development of important values within their children. Within this spirit, Dr. Plasner will shortly be offering an e-course for all parents to guide them on their journey toward improving communication, relationships, behaviors, and parent-child interaction. In addition, Dr. Plasner conducts individual therapy sessions with children and adolescents utilizing the Adlerian approach, which uniquely blends cognitive, behavioral, and psychodynamic aspects of the psychotherapy. As part of Dr. Plasner's brand of therapy, he devotes extra time and effort in including parenting sessions to augment the therapeutic process. Dr. Plasner is also able to utilize EEG neurofeedback sessions to facilitate progress in children who experience various disorders such as ADHD, stress related conditions, and learning efficiency. Under the office of Mae J. Balaban and Associates, LLC., Dr. Plasner, owner/executive director, manages a state approved independent Child Study Team that offers comprehensive, independent second opinions in the areas of psychology, speech-language, education, occupational therapy, assistive technology, and social functioning. In addition, Balaban and Associates contracts with school systems to provide related services in counseling and speech-language therapy, as well as offering private services in all of the above disciplines. |
